The 2010 General Assembly wrapped up its session Tuesday, finalizing a pain-filled $5.1 billion state budget for next year and looking warily forward to better economic days ahead. In the hot seat, the Senate finished its review of more than two dozen budget vetoes issued earlier this month by Gov. Mark Sanford, agreeing in most cases with the House to overturn vetoes that would have voided $900,000 for school buses and $1 million for the state’s two governor’s schools, among other cuts. A federal judge on Tuesday cut a prison sentence in half for a registered S.C. sex offender serving prison time on a federal gun charge. Kenneth Glenn Hinson had been serving a 25-year sentence.
